Senate GOP Healthcare Plan Collapses!
TIME FOR GOP TO WORK WITH OTHERS TO IMPROVE the ACA!
Now that the GOP leadership’s plan to gut the ACA and Medicaid has collapsed, they are pivoting in their effort by trying to push a straight repeal with no replacement. Repealing the ACA without replacing is even more harmful than the failed Senate bill!
Call Senators Reed and Whitehouse today, thank them for helping to lead the opposition. Let them know you support their call for Senate Leadership to now start from scratch with a different, bipartisan approach that leaves Medicaid aside and focuses on making real improvements to marketplace stability and affordability (including a public option!).

Senator Whitehouse: (202) 224-2921
CALL FRIENDS & FAMILY IN KEY STATES
Urge them to call their own Senators to vote NO on repeal and to work with Democrats on a bi-partisan plan to IMPROVE NOT REPEAL the ACA! States that matter: AZ, AK, CO, LA, ME, NV, OH, WV.
Here’s what the Senate’s failed plan would have meant:
It would raise premiums significantly for older Americans by allowing insurers to charge them up to 5 times the premiums of younger people.
It would explode premiums for those with pre-existing conditions by allowing states to throw them into under-funded, expensive high risk pools which failed patients in the past and will again.
It would cut Medicaid funding by $880 Billion over 10 years, forcing states to limit eligibility and services to the lowest income.
It would give super wealthy individuals and corporations billions in tax giveaways by eliminating the taxes designed to fund the ACA.
And, because the bill would put essential benefits at risk, insurers could charge more while covering less!
Combined, the Center On Budget (COB) predicts that more than 24 million Americans, up to 110,000 Rhode Islanders, would lose coverage because their premiums would just cost too much.
