Linda Shaw joined the Economic Progress Institute Board in February 2023.
Dr. Shaw moved from St. Louis, MO to Providence in summer 2021. She had just retired from her position in the Division of Child Protection, Department of Pediatrics at St. Louis University School of Medicine, having spent the last 10 years of her career, as a consulting Child Abuse Pediatrician.
Linda graduated with a MSSW from Columbia U School of Social Work, and worked as a therapist and medical social worker. She then completed medical school at U of Maryland School of Medicine, with a subsequent 3 years of pediatric residency at the U of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. After Seattle, she held general academic pediatric positions in California, Arizona and New Jersey. In 2009 she became speciality boarded in child abuse, in the first cohort of this newly established speciality. Linda is on the Policy and Advocacy Committee of the Women’s Fund of RI and the Advisory Board of the RI Office of the Child Advocate. She also enjoys singing in the Chorus of East Providence and playing pickleball. She is the proud mother of 3 adult children and grandmother of their 6 children. She shares many interests with her wonderful partner of 53 years. Linda has held non-profit board positions in New Jersey and Missouri. She is pleased to have the opportunity to serve on EPI’s Board of Directors.
