Medicaid Matters in Rhode Island 2025 — Annual Report of the Protect Our Healthcare Coalition

Medicaid supports our people. Medicaid supports our economy, healthcare system, jobs, and cities and towns. Congress is on a path to cut billions in Medicaid funding that, if enacted, would terminate health insurance for tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders and destabilize the healthcare system we all rely on. If billions of federal dollars are cut from Medicaid, Rhode Island would need to decide whether to make up the lost federal funds with increased state revenue to maintain current coverage and services — or to cut benefits, cut enrollment, or cut payments to providers.
